Hey!!  So everything is going super well.  To start shit off, we have three new fliers:

 the Burton Theatre
Gage Lindsten

Patrick Burnell

In other newz, we have been at 1018 Warehouse every day cleaning and painting and muraling and decorating and preparing and having fun...  So many people have been there helping us with things, It is MUCH appreciated.  We have 4 or 5 murals being worked on at the moment and 4 or 5 more are probably going to be started soon.  The 'theatre' has started to become set up.  We're gonna put together the projector and concession stand tomorrow.  Detroit Party Marching Band emailed us earlier and asked to be a part of the fest and we said DUH!!!  Not really, but I was super excited.  I love them.  Heres some pics from tuesday:

Max starting his insane mini mural

Filler painted for two days straight.

This mural is almost done and its fuckin insane.
Today I spent a lot of time runnin around to different local businesses asking for their support.  Supino Pizzeria and Leopold Books fuckin ruuuuuuuule.  They were so nice and supportive of what I was doing.  If you luv them like I do, i know y'all are gonna want to buy some raffle tickets!  2 ten dollar gift certificates to Supino and and 15 dollar certificate to Leopolds!  We also have a scrummage mixtape box set, a cool collage by ben c, and other cool thingz.

Just a side note, I just wanted to mention how great everyone who has helped is.  Ben and I decided to throw this on a whim and everyone has been so helpful in the process.  There is NO way we could do this by ourselves.  I wish I could pay everyone involved a thousand pizzas each because they all deserve it.  Maybe next year.

I'll be trying to post pictures everyday to show the progress of the venue.  Shits comin up quick!

Dear Diary,
The festival is going good so far. We had a meeting yesterday that went quite swimmingly. We discussed the locations of all the food tables, art tables, ETC. We sat on the roof and talked and watched the storm come in, which was super nice and probably my favorite part. When you're there you sort of feel like you're in the country. There's trees everywhere, birds chirping, and hardly a house to be seen. This feeling of desolation isn't a 'shit we're in the middle of nowhere, somebody is going to jump us' feeling.. its more of a 'I feel so peaceful here' sort of feeling.

So I wake up this morning(afternoon) and to my great surprise i have a message from GAGE LINDSTEN. My close friend and close neighbor Alex recommended me to talk to him a week prior, saying he was da shit. He had a really cool profile photo on facebook so I messaged him immediately. (Keep in mind, I trust Alex's judgement. He connected me with the burton dudes). Gage said he was in though, and he linked me to his blog, and sent me a really really really pretty picture that I like a lot. (His stuff is like ice cream for my eyes).

In conclusion: Gage will be at ~*MYRIAD SHOCKS*~ so that is another reason why you should come.

Also, for those of you who haven't seen it yet, SUA YOO made the most perfect wonderful flier!!!

Oh yeah, almost forgot! I got an email the other day from this pretty lady named Monica. She wanted to submit some stuff and was asking about deadlines and applications and I sorta laughed to myself.. 'hahaha... me? having the organization and skills to make applications and due dates?' Uhhh... don't let that turn you off to this. We're doin it. I just have to work a lil harder to keep everything organized. I do it in my day to day life as well. I manage. BUT ya know.. this girl sent me her stuff. It is ~nicee~. Some real pretty classy stuff. I also found out she's from my hometown, which is weird, because I live in a lil farm town full of confederate flags and big ass trucks. Where were all the cool talented kids when I was growing up? Whateva.

She doesn't have a website yet but you can still GO (sep 24th) and SEE her things IRL!!!

This entry got a little long and rambling. I apologize. Once again, please email me if you are interested in participating. Apfiscus1@gmail.com

WORKIN ON IT

So there is 16 days until the fest. That's 2 weeks. I don't know if anybody reads this blog, and thats because I haven't really advertised this thing at all. Thats an issue. Ben and I are working on making some fliers, and Ms. KATIE BARKEL is gonna help me make some beautiful and entertaining video fliers. Let's check her out, yeah?

CHILD BITE "ODD INN" from KATIE BARKEL on Vimeo.

I work with this girl. She ruuules. We're talking about making a few short vids to turn into fliers just to get the crowd excited. I also met up with David Allen of the BURTON THEATRE today. He was nice enough to come visit me at work. We're plannin big things for the Film portion of the fest. Got lots of cool film makers on the line up.

While I'm here I guess i'll talk about a good bud of mine who's gonna be doin a lot at myriad shocks. Juan Majerowicz. He just turned twenty one a couple of days ago but he already has the most recognizable style of any artist I know personally.

^He did that. He'll be doin live painting, playing in his band CREEPY CRAWLERS/CREEPY CRIMINALS (watch their music vid, i'm in it) and displayin his stuff around the place. I wish he'd make a website with his portfolio, but really if I wanted to, I could just do it myself. I have so many juan drawings.

Uhhhh well thanx for readin leave a comment :P

Alex Mack

Alexandra Mackenzie was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario until the age of 18 when she made the move to Toronto to attend the University of Toronto. In her youth, she avidly studied classical and operatic voice from the age of seven until her departure where she picked up the drums and other tools for musical experimentation. She has since played in bands, which include Machetes, Romo Roto, Dentata, and Wet Nurse.

Alexandra switched to the Ontario College of Art and Design, after her second year at U of T realising that after several late nights of drawing and painting, and avoiding her innumerable readings, art school seemed like the best course of action for acquiring a degree.

Following her graduation with a degree in printmaking in May 2011, Alexandra continues her life-long growth as an artist, both technically, conceptually, and spiritually. Mystified by the phenomenon that is our planet and the universe which houses it, and the fragile, multidimensional nature of humanity and life on earth, she seeks to position herself in what is an ever-changing and also tumultuously conflicted society. In the future, she wishes to travel and work under varying cultural conditions.

Alex will have her stuff on display and for sale at the fest!

~the beginning~

Its been a week and a half since Ben Filler and I started planning this festival. In that week and a half, it's insane how many people have gotten involved. I wanna use this blog as a way to do two things:

A. Show off all the great artists who are a part of this festival

and

B. Keep everyone updated on what's happening

We need volunteers for before, during, and after the festival. If you're interested, please email me, Abby, at:
APFISCUS1@GMAIL.COM
Here's a list of some of the volunteer positions we need filled:

1. initial cleaning and organization of the venue
2. setting up the gallery
3. helping coordinate the artist market
4. work at & help setup the food tables
5. distribute fliers
6. clean up
7. ETC

Ben and I are gonna start having meetings, so if you want in on that, email me the best way to communicate with y'all. (I'd prefer if it was email just so I could contact you all at once)

Also, If your band isn't booked for the event, don't worry. We plan on having a MYRIAD of different events over the next few months just for kicks. I like doing this sort of stuff, it's fun.

If you have any suggestions, complains, concerns, ETC, leave a comment or email me or somethin.

Thanks for all the help, hopefully this fest will turn out great.

XOXOXOXOX

Abby
